What's This About?

Simply said, this is where I get to rant and rave about my life in suburbia as a mom to an active 2-yr old boy and a wife to a geeky husband. They say you can take the girl out of the city, but you can't take the city out of the girl... Oh so true!

We see progress…

It is Day 8 of Papa in Suburbia’s 6-day patio project and I must say…it is actually coming along.  It’s not completed yet.  I really had my doubts in the beginning, but we are really making progress.  Pssst, between you and me…I think I lit a little spark when I blogged about it the other day.  I said I [...]

Damn you, HGTV

With a new house comes new projects.  And new projects = $$$$$
So Mr. DIY (a.k.a. my husband Papa in Suburbia) decided to tackle on a new project himself this week in hopes to save us some money.  Which I think is great.  But, I am a little worried.
So what is it that he’s doing?
Are you ready [...]

The ants go marching one by one….AGAIN?!?!?

You know summer is near when you start seeing creepy crawlies everywhere.  And I’ve seen my share already.
I am deathly afraid of insects.  Don’t like ‘em.  Definitely don’t want ‘em.  Although I must admit, ever since moving to Suburbia my tolerance of them has grown a slight smidgen.  I know…it’s all part of the circle of [...]

Horticulturist, I am not

I’ve been lazy.  Lazy with the blogging, that is.  This particular post has been sitting in my “Draft” folder for almost 2 weeks.  Seriously.  Maybe it’s blogger’s block or maybe it’s spring fever.
Eh, who am I kidding…it’s laziness.
Anyways.  So even though I haven’t been blogging, I have been keeping myself occupied.  Now that it’s Spring.  And [...]

Nature’s Grim Reapers

It was like a scene from The Birds or The Omen.  Gi-normous birds perched up on my rooftop!!!  And I mean OOO-MUNG-GUS flying creatures with wingspans of about 5 feet (give or take).  Perched there, looking down, hunting for prey…ready to attack.  Okay, so maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration…but they were definitely huge [...]

Holy Turd!!!

Now don’t get me wrong.  I am not a dog-hater.  I am not an animal-hater.  In fact, I love dogs.  I am, however, a hater of those irresponsible dog owners who think it’s okay for their dog to poop on your property and not pick up afterwards.
Guess what we found on our driveway?  A nice [...]

She’s A Lady…..bug

Okay, tell me if I’m crazy.  The other day it was so cold that it was flurrying outside.  Yes, you heard me.  FLURRIES!  In the middle of October.  It’s not even Halloween yet!!!  But today, it got so warm the ladybugs were out trying to find a home for their winter hibernation.  And I don’t [...]

I have a feeling we’re not in NY anymore…

So after 3 years and 5 months of living in CT, it has finally hit me…I’m really living in Suburbia.
No, I’m not on drugs.  No, I haven’t had a drink…yet.  I mean I know I’ve been living in suburban CT, but now I really know know.  Yesterday, I was cleaning up the kitchen in our [...]

M I A

I’m sorry I’ve been MIA for the past couple of days.  As I’m sure you know by now, I’ve been totally consumed with our new house.  I feel like I’m giving my every waking moment (and many sleeping moments) thinking about this house.
Summer is almost over.  We’re finally getting some real summer weather.  And unfortunately, [...]

It will happen one day…

I remember back in the days when I was a child, the excitement of going back to school.  Summer was always great.  But there was that ever-so-faint anticipation of going back to school.  The excitement of buying new school supplies.  The joys of going clothes shopping.  The wonderment of how your new teachers would be [...]
