What's This About?

Simply said, this is where I get to rant and rave about my life in suburbia as a mom to an active 2-yr old boy and a wife to a geeky husband. They say you can take the girl out of the city, but you can't take the city out of the girl... Oh so true!

Can’t teach an old dog…

A new year, but unfortunately the same frustrations.
First off, I want to apologize for not having blogged since Christmas.  I’m glad the holidays are over and we’re finally getting back into the swing of things.  And since it’s already 2 weeks plus into the new year, I figure I’d better get back into the blogosphere.
So [...]

It will be one warm winter…

I think I’ve learned my lesson when it comes to Papa in Suburbia’s gift giving.  Every birthday, every anniversary, every holiday I am asked the question, “What do you want?”.  And my answer is always, “I don’t know.  Surprise me”.  And you would think that after 4 years, I would have learned my lesson.
Don’t let [...]

Houston…we have a problem

Everyone complains about how women get when they’re PMSing.  That’s nothing compared to how a man gets when he’s going through his “mid-life” crisis.  Yes, it is official.  My husband has entered the “I just found a gray hair, I think I need to get a 2-seater sports coupe” stage of his life.  Let me tell [...]

Say it with flowers

“How come we don’t fool around as much as we used to before we were married?”, asked Papa in Suburbia.
Ehhhhh, excuse me?  Let me see, where shall I begin….
Because I’m too tired from cooking and cleaning and doing laundry and running after our son all day long.
Because we don’t have time to ourselves anymore.
Because I’m too tired [...]

Pardon me while I blow off some steam…

Before you go any further, I want to warn you that the following post is a venting session.  If you do not wish to listen to any whining or do not wish to offer me any empathy, please do not continue to read.
Okay, consider yourself forewarned.
Do you ever wake up in the morning with a bad [...]

“A man is called selfish, not for pursuing his own good, but for neglecting his neighbor’s.” - Richard Whately

Do people get more selfish with age?  Does an only child tend to be more selfish than children with siblings?
self-ish:  adjective -  concerned excessively or exclusively with oneself : seeking or concentrating on one’s own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others
“Concerned excessively or exclusively with oneself…concentrating on one’s own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without [...]

Those Darn Seeds

Who put seeds back in the watermelon?!?!?
For as long as I could remember, I’ve always eaten watermelon that had no seeds.  Sometimes you’ll find a stray white seed here and there, but not enough that you would have to worry about spitting it out.  Little did I know, I’d been buying SEEDLESS watermelon…DUH!!!  I usually [...]

What Happened to “Happily Ever After”…

“Happily Ever After” - the 3 words that imply wedded bliss once the “I Do’s” are completed. Yes, I was once that young naive girl that believed in that fairytale ending. I believed that because I waited all those years to find my Prince Charming, he must be the one, right? It’s not like I [...]
